Sesame is widely known and used in various ways throughout the world. It is rich in vitamin E which has anti-aging activity, reduces cholesterol and helps prevent diabetes and cataracts. Also the selenium that is abundant in it gives it antioxidant properties thus protecting the body from heart disease. In relation to white sesame seeds, it has more fiber due to its bark. Sesame is used in pastries and pastries. In Greece, sesame seeds are known from the walnuts of Thessaloniki, the halva and the pasteli. In Africa, on top of the tahini, they also eat the leaves of the sesame, while in America they use it as an ointment on the bread.
