Hippophaes are grown in areas ranging from the Atlantic coast of Europe to northwest China. In our country, we cultivate mainly in Kozani, Pella, Crete, Fthiotida and Evia. The fruits of the Hippophaes are nutritious, though very acidic and unpleasant if eaten raw. Its fruits are high in vitamin C, about 15 times more than orange, which is the one that classifies the Hippophaes in the richest sources, from plants, to vitamin C. Also, the fruits are rich in vitamin E, amino acids and minerals. Rice fruits can be used as dried fruits, as frozen fruits, as well as in food products (sweets, candies, etc.) even in various cosmetic formulations (shampoos, soaps, ointments) etc. Hippophae is used in Eastern Europe from the uses mentioned and for its natural dyestuffs, in the fabric industry as a dye. So for all these benefits and for many more, it can be well-deserved in the "overtraining" category.
